Gujarat Riots 2002: A perspective from truth-seeker

“Sometimes people don't want to hear the truth because they don't want their illusions destroyed.”

Amidst a decade of media cacophony with false propaganda on Gujarat Riots 2002, many individuals have attempted to bring the real truth to the fore by presenting indisputable facts and asking the right questions.
Notable efforts in the recent past were made by Madhu Purnima Kishwar, a noted writer, academic and a Senior fellow at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS). She wrote a series of articles on this subject backed by un-disputed facts, verifiable interviews and logical analysis (titled, Modinama). Websites such as www.gujaratriots.com, www.ibtl.in, www.niticentral.com etc., have also done commendable work in countering the myths/false propaganda spread by main stream media (MSM), several self-certified intellectuals and money spinning NGOs, under the garb of activism for justice to riot victims.
It is particularly disheartening to see, respectable media houses deliberately passing – biased opinions and lies as truth for public consumption in their day to day discussions/ analysis on the subject. Many gullible people across the World have fallen prey to this carefully orchestrated propaganda machinery, which is targeted at tarnishing the image of NaMo (and Gujarat) for over a decade now.
Has anyone ever tried to question these self-appointed 'watchdogs of justice' if what they are presenting are really facts? If one forms an opinion, without trying to understand the facts (along with views, counter views on the same) those opinions are bound to be biased.
In India, where electoral politics are so complex, intense and ridden with intrigue, to conduct a kangaroo court style media trial on a leader like NaMo raises lot of doubts on the intentions and motivations of MSM (especially their hurry and enthusiasm to declare him guilty) for not giving any credence to legal process/investigation on this case, which has been very intensely contested/reviewed/examined by Supreme Court for many years now.
Despite, the best efforts of the Congress led UPA government (at the centre), not a single accusation against NaMo has been proved in the decade long investigations (constituted and overseen by the Supreme Court of India) or judicial proceedings.
In fact, many well-wishers of humanity and truth (like www.gujaratriots.com , propaganda vs facts: gujarat police turned a blind eye to the riots ) have challenged the false propagandists (esp. those who speak lies and manipulate news and analysis presented through MSM in India), to dispute them on facts.
The constant vitriolic/caustic/hate campaign against NaMo through Main Stream Media (MSM) and all round consorted efforts to drive him to insanity (or submission) for a decade have largely proved futile. On the contrary, NaMo stood his ground, stayed positive and focused his energies on developing Gujarat.
NaMo emerged as a stronger leader having a pan-India appeal, with a reputation of being incorruptible, able administrator and decisive leader.
Events, circumstances pertaining to no other riot in the history of mankind was analyzed, discussed, dissected and scrutinized with so much intensity, magnitude and information /misinformation. Although, many riots/ mob violence/communal clashes have happened before and after Gujarat Riots 2002, never were they scrutinized beyond routine judicial/police probes. This brings to the fore, a key question – Why has Gujarat Riots 2002 become so popular, contentious and pivotal for many sections of think-tanks/ ideologues, not just in India but, across the world?
24 X 7 news/ media Television channels, had aggressively covered the events and circumstances surrounding the riots on a real-time basis, with an intent to weaken the BJP government in Gujarat and NDA government at the centre. Although, many riots happened stakes like Orissa, Rajasthan, Assam, Uttar Pradesh and Jammu Kashmir between 2002 and 2013, not a single riot was covered by the otherwise enthusiastic media, despite many more 24X7 new/media television channels, equipped with more efficient means of collecting the information/communication. The most recent being the Muzzaffarnagar riots which claimed about 50 lives.
The news/ analysis, information/ misinformation pertaining to events, views and interviews of leaders of political parties pertaining to Gujarat 2002 has become more intense than ever (esp. after the declaration of NaMo's candidature for PM by BJP). Let us get into the topic straightaway - Why did the Media houses and self-certified secular parties not condemn the Godhra carnage in the same breadth, as normally as they are seen condemning terror attacks?
Instead of making soothing remarks/statements to help tone down the tempers, the reactions by respected media houses, secular parties on the Godhra carnage are distasteful and in the nature of adding salt to injury. They said -
- It could be an accident
- Karsevaks did not behave well
- VHP/BJP conspiracy to polarize the country.
- NaMo engineered and monitored the whole episode etc.
Is this the way to react when a demonic act of burning alive 58 persons incl. women and children is witnessed? What defense would the NaMo haters put-forth, if one says, they are making these kind of statements (or) carrying out misinformation and hate-campaign against BJP (NaMo, in particular) with malafide intentions and have NO interest in addressing the issue of justice to riot victims (the readers would realize this, if they are willing to discover truth by their OWN efforts).
Let repeated accusations, reports, opinions (which are summarily bundled with blatant lies, conspiracy theories, feeble/ manufactured proofs) NOT masquerade as gospel truth. The objective of this article is not to just convert or persuade NaMo/BJP baiters, less informed readers to support NaMo/ BJP. But, to counter, expose the false propagandists (political parties/organizations/ideologies) who have vested interests in misleading the public about NaMo/BJP.
NaMo/ BJP haters can be broadly categorized into below three segments –
1) Political opponents for direct reasons/ intentions - To consolidate the minority vote bank by demonizing the BJP/ NaMo.
2) Left-liberal Intellectuals for covert reasons - Malign and discredit Hindutva (which they aim to destroy to the core). They see BJP and in particular, NaMo as a personification of Hindutva.
3) Media houses/ NGOs/eminent people , who do not have affiliations to either of the above (Political opponents, Left-liberal intellectuals)– Act based on their vested interests (normally, propped up by above two segments as their proxies).
Any neutral observer of Indian politics would relate and agree to the above analysis, if he/she is ready to put efforts to spend some quality time in going to the bottom of the issue/ verify facts.
Much of the truth about our ancient and medieval history, was distorted by historians who are loyal to Colonial masters and have no sense of Bharatiyata (self-esteem of being a Bharatitya). It is interesting to note that the media-anointed historians, academicians (who essentially carry Left-liberal ideology) are by default NaMo/ BJP haters. Readers will do good, if they research to understand the bigger picture behind this coincidence. Finally, it is up to readers' discretion to whether to or not to call these segment – Political opportunists, Sly-foot soldiers of Left-liberal ideology, group of intellectually and professionally dishonest/corrupt individuals who are driven by vested interests (which is definitely not - justice to riot victims) and are just using the Gujarat 2002 Riots to wage their political, ideological battles or trying to make some economic equity.
Prologue:
In July 2001, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) had taken up the activity of doing mass japa (a group of volunteers together repeat Jai Sri Ram 33 crore times) as a deeksha (a common ritual in Hindu culture). At the conclusion of the same, tarpan/ablutions are planned to be offered at the Purnahuti Yajna venue, near the disputed site in Ayodhya . In this regard, VHP has enrolled Karsevaks across India. The ritual is aimed at removing obstacles and giving momentum to the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Link to article

2-Oct-01 | Narendra Modi was asked to shift base from New Delhi to Gandhinagar and take charge as the state Chief Minister. |
7-Oct-01 | Narendra Modi takes charge of Chief Minister of Gujarat. He had no prior experience as an administrator and had never fought an election, until then. |
22-Feb-02 | Narendra Modi wins his first election as an MLA from Rajkot II defeating the Congress candidate by 14,728 votes. |
23-Feb-02 | A group of Karsevaks left for Ayodhya from Ahmedabad in Sabarmati express to offer their tarpan in Ayodhya. |
24-Feb-02 | Karsevaks reached Ayodhya to perform the rituals. Reports of violence between locals of Rudauli (a densely Muslim populated town) and a different group of Karsevaks (who were in a train returning from Ayodhya) was reported by local police, in June 2002 as a response to a query from Ahmedabad police. The belated report about the incident, states the incident had "provoked anger in the Muslim community". Rudauli is in the district of Faizabad (which was epicenter of Ayodhya movement). Link to article Note: False propagandists tried to link this Rudauli incident to the victims of Godhra carnage for 'proving' that karsevaks were unruly and had scuffles with Muslim vendors in earlier stations as well (the popular videos of these false propagandists carry interviews of Rudauli residents to slyly 'prove' that the ill-fated karsevaks massacred in Godhra were an unruly mob, which is not correct. The false propaganda material is aimed to subvert the truth by painting a perception about the character of the dead Karsevaks (this clearly shows how cunning the propagandists are and how much hate they belly for sympathisers of Ayodhya movement). |
25-Feb-02 | The ill-fated Karsevaks boarded the train back to Ahmedabad in Sabarmati Express from Ayodhya. |
Fateful day (27 Feb 2002):
Time | Event |
---|---|
~ 7 : 43 AM | Sabarmati train arrived Godhra (platform number 1) about 4-5 hours late, than the scheduled time of arrival. |
~ 7 : 43 AM to 7 : 48 AM | During the halt of 05 minutes, a scuffle breaks out between few Karsevak and Muslim locals There were unconfirmed reports by false propagandists, that within this 4 - 5 minutes, Karsevaks had not only had a fight with Muslim tea vendors, but also attempted a kidnap/abduction of a Muslim girl waiting on the platform for train to go from Godhra to Vadodara. These reports were comprehensively discredited/dismissed in the investigation carried out by the Nanavati-Mehta Commission*. The contradictory, inconsistent and suspicious nature of the statements by the witness (Sofiya Banu) was not corroborated by anyone on the platform. (Is it practically possible that within a 5 minute time there was so much drama - karsevaks take refreshments then pick up a scuffle and also attempt to kidnap a girl etc.? More so importantly, can a mob of 1000s in number assemble within 15 minutes of the incident and set a coach on fire in the next 10 to 15 minutes with out a pre-planned conspiracy?) |
~ 7 : 48 AM | The train starts moving from the platform, leaving some passengers/Karsevaks on the platform |
~ 7 : 49 AM | The train stops after the chain is pulled in four coaches (83101, 5343, 91236 and 88238). |
~ 7 : 49 AM to 7: 56 AM | Stone throwing/ scuffle between passengers/Karsevaks on the train and local Muslim residents who started emerging from behind the parcel office located in Godhra station. Link to article (Almost all coaches had been stoned) |
~ 8:00 AM | Train again started moving slowly and picked up a speed of ~ 12 Km per hour, before it stopped again near Cabin A, due to chain pulled again. |
~ 8 : 00 AM to 8 : 17 AM | Heavy stone pelting on about 4 coaches (including S6). Hundreds of mob surrounded the train and participated in stone pelting. Just some time before 08:17AM the S6 coach was set on fire using petrol by the mob. "The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report concludes that at least 60 liters of inflammable liquid was thrown by someone standing between the compartment and the northern side door of the bogie." Eye-witnesses (passengers, railway staff and police) corroborated that pouches with inflammable liquid, petrol-soaked rags with fire, were thrown inside the S6 coach from windows. Also, carboys with petrol were unloaded (on the floor of the coach) by breaking into the S6 coach through vestibule connecting with coach S7 (confessed by the culprits). |
~ 8 : 20 AM to 8 : 25 AM | Police arrives at the venue opens fire in the air, to disperse the mob. Efforts to bring the fire extinguisher near the Cabin A was obstructed by mob led by Mr. Haji Balal, a Congress party functionary in Godhra. As per Nanavati report - ".. he stopped the vehicle on its way to the Godhra Station and did not allow it to proceed any further. A man stood in front of the vehicle, the mob started pelting stones, … The headlights and the windowpanes of the vehicle got damaged … Fearing for his own and his crew's life, the driver drove the vehicle through the mob, as it was not possible to move backwards. The mob gave in but 15-20 precious minutes had been lost". |
~ 11 : 00 AM | Mob from Signal Falia area has again tried to attack the train, police, passengers. This time police has used force to disperse the mob, preventing any untoward incident. |
~ 11 : 30 AM | Burnt coach S6 was separated from the train |
~ 12 : 40 PM | The train (sans the burnt coach S6) left Godhra |
~ 4 : 30 PM | Gujarat Assembly adjourned and Modi heads for Godhra |
~ 5 : 00 PM | Narendra Modi arrives in Godhra to visit the scene of crime and was mobbed there by angry protestors of VHP. Later, holds a meeting, giving shoot-at-sight orders to the police Link to article |
~ 10 : 30 PM | Narendra Modi is back in Gandhinagar. Convenes a meeting of top police officials and bureaucrats to assess the situation. Orders curfew in sensitive places and pre-emptive arrests. Government takes decision to bring the dead bodies to Ahmedabad as almost all of them died in the carnage belong to Ahmedabad and surrounding areas. Note: Suspended IPS officer Mr. Sanjiv Bhatt has claimed to have attended this meeting and enthusiastically filed an affidavit with Supreme Court in April 2011. However, Supreme court monitored SIT has dismissed his claims and termed him an unreliable person, colluding with the people with vested interests, who want to settle scores with Narendra Modi by using Honble Supreme court/SIT. Link to article VHP calls for Gujarat Bandh on 28 February 2002 and Bharat Bandh on 01 March 2013. |
Nanavati - Mehta report
Special fast track court judgement
Aftermath: Day 1 (28 Feb 2002):
Time | Event |
---|---|
~ 3: 30 AM | The bodies of the victims of Godhra carnage had reached Sola Hospital located in the outskirts of the city. Handing-over of the identified bodies to the relatives has started well before the day break. It may be noted that false propagandists and biased media persons have spread lies - that dead bodies were paraded in the streets to whip-up the public emotions (which is false). |
~ 8 : 00 AM | Special control room set up in CM's official residence to monitor the situation during VHP called Gujarat bandh |
~ 9:30 AM | onwards Reports stating instances of mob size and violence have started to come from various areas /parts of Ahmedabad and Gujarat. Gujarat is seriously under staffed to tackle the emerging law & order situation. |
~ 10 : 30 AM | Second meeting of top police officials and bureaucrats is convened to assess the situation. Curfew clamped in all major cities and towns across Gujarat. |
~ 11 : 30 AM | till Afternoon Narendra Modi attends state assembly session and states on the floor of the Assembly, where the Opposition was also present, that - "the State Govt. has taken this heinous, inhuman and organized violent act very seriously and is committed to give exemplary punishment to the culprits so that such incident never recur anywhere". The Chief Minister repeated the same in his press conference held on 28.02.2002 afternoon at Circuit House, Annexie, Ahmedabad. A while after, addressing the public through Doordarshan, Narendra Modi reiterated that Gujarat will never tolerate any such incident and that guilty will be punished for their heinous crime. He also said that the culprits would be awarded such exemplary punishment so that no one would dare to involve himself in such an incident. Thus at-least on five occasions, which are fully documented, during 27 & 28 February 2002, Narendra Modi addressed Media, State Assembly and General public and every where he maintained consistent position, i.e., to punish the culprits responsible for the Godhra incident in an exemplary manner, so that such incidents did not recur ever again. |
~ 12 : 00 PM | Modi informally contacts Centre for calling in army. Cabinet Secretary T.R. Prasad tells Defence Secretary Y. Narain that army is to be mobilised. |
~ 12 : 30 PM | Vice-Chief of Army Staff Lt-General N.C. Vij tells Narain that only two columns are available as the rest are deployed on the border |
~ 12 : 35 PM | Prasad directs Narain to advise Chief of Army Staff General Padmanabhan to have troops ready due to the rapidly deteriorating situation in Ahmedabad. |
~ 12 : 45 PM | Narain tells Vij to arrange immediate movement of troops to Gujarat. |
~ 4 : 00 PM | Narendra Modi a telephonic request to the then Home Minister, L.K Advani for deployment of the Army in Ahmedabad and various other parts of the state. As a follow-up, Gujarat government sends a fax to the Secretary , Ministry of Defence seeking deployment of Army. |
~ 6: 45 PM | Cabinet Committee on Security meets under the prime minister's chairmanship; approves the immediate movement of troops to Ahmedabad and other parts of Gujarat. Vajpayee deputes George Fernandes (then Defence Minister) to supervise the deployment of troops. |
~ 7 : 00 PM | The Gujarat Government's formal request for army deployment is received in Delhi |
8:00 PM | Narendra Modi address Gujarat public to maintain peace and harmony. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIRMR8zW0iI |
~ 11 : 30 PM | Airlifting of troops begin Overall, Ahmedabad police received ~3,500 calls on 28 February 2002. |
Aftermath: Day 2 (01 Mar 2002):
Time | Event |
---|---|
1:00 AM | George Fernandes (then Defence Minister) had landed in Ahmedabad at the behest of Narendra Modi. At great personal risk, he bravely took to the streets next morning to check the violence. |
2:30 AM | A brigade reaches Ahmedabad. The 54th Division's General Officer Commanding contacts acting Chief Secretary. |
9:00 AM | Discussions between representatives of the army and the state take place. |
11:30 AM | The Army began flag marches in the worst-affected areas of Ahmedabad, Baroda, Rajkot and Godhra cities and the 'shoot at sight' order was extended to all 34 curfew-bound cities and towns in Gujarat . |
Out of ~443 convictions ( which included ~332 Hindus) that have happened so far, only about one third/ ~148 convictions (~ 117 Hindus) happened in the cases investigated by SIT, rest all were investigated by Gujarat police.
Considering that ~200 rioters were killed in police firing and another 400 more rioters convicted so far through legal process, makes Gujarat riots, probably the best in terms of Justice delivered for victims.
Gujarat government / Gujarat police did everything it can to stop the rioters.
Yes the efforts of the government/ police to stop the rioters from the rampage may not be enough. But, does that mean - Gujarat government, police have NOT done ALL they could?
1) Ordered curfew in all major cities across the state (on 28 Feb 2002, from the very next day).
"An indefinite curfew was clamped in 26 cities and towns in the State, including parts of Ahmedabad, Surat, Baroda, Rajkot, Nadiad, Anand and Kaira on February 28 in addition to the indefinite curfew in force in Godhra since February 27" ~
The Hindu
2) All police available at Gujarat government's disposal were deployed on 28 February 2002.
"Security forces deployed more than 70,000 men across the state, a curfew was imposed in several towns and shoot-on-sight orders were issued." ~ The Telegraph , United Kingdom
Hindus massacred on blazing train
"Ahmedabad has a police force of 6,000, including 1,500 armed personnel. In addition, the entire state has just four companies (530 jawans) of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) of which only one company could be spared for Ahmedabad. Considering that the mobs that simultaneously surfaced at nearly half a dozen places numbered from 2,000 to 10,000, the forces proved woefully inadequate. At one point on February 28 there were at least 25,000 people targeting the Muslim localities in Ahmedabad alone."
India Today
3) Gujarat government not only requested for help from Centre but also from all neighboring states.
Gujarat has requested for assistance from adjoining Congress ruled states – Rajsthan (CM – Mr. Ashok Gehlot), Madhya Pradesh (Mr. Digvijaya Singh) and Maharashtra (Mr. Vilasrao Deshmukh) on 28 February 2002. Assistance was denied by Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and it came very late from Maharashtra (after everything subsided).
NaMo asking Digvijaya Singh – Why he did not give assistance? For which, Digvijaya has no answer. (watch 4:20 mins, in this video)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSkEZ9hcIdM
This was proved with official documentation/responses in the SIT investigation.
SIT report page 448 state that since the Gujarat Government asked for police from three neighboring States on February 28 but the States were unable to do so in addition to 26 Army battalions deployed in the State, six companies of CISF, 11 companies of BSF, 4 companies of RAF were deployed till March 3, 2002.
"So it can be said that there was no delay whatsoever in requisitioning of Army and its deployment in State as and when they realized on 28 Feb 2002 that situation was out of control. More significantly, Union Defence Minister arrived on 28th night so that Army could take positions before any delay."
4) Police opened fire on rioters, killing many.
The police fired more than 3,900 rounds in the first three days alone and fired 6500 rounds of tear gas shells. As many as 98 people were shot dead by the police in the first three days. For the complete period of rioting, despite the presence of the Army for 73 out of 74 days, the police fired as many 15,000 tear gas shells, and a total of 10,500 rounds. Out of the total people killed in the riots, ~20% have been shot dead by the police.
propaganda vs facts: gujarat police turned a blind eye to the riots
If so many rioters were killed in police firing, which is unprecedented in the history of India. Then, why do some people still speak lies that Gujarat govt. did nothing to stop rioters?
Do you know that the campaign against NaMo started through MSM by Congress, well after the riots ended. There were no contemporary reports during the riots which accused NaMo of any complacency.
Gujarat Riots issue was propped up by political/ideological opponents of BJP to defeat/embarrass BJP across India.
The strategy by political opponents was to reap the polarized vote bank of minorities for political equity and the ideological opponents to defame Hindutva on the lines of Taliban, Nazis. This strategy had been implemented meticulously by self-styled intellectuals, NGOs and popular media houses , who were all generously patronized by - either Congress party or sections/agencies who have no interest in well-being of India.
5) Gujarat police arrested rioters.
Out of the 25,486 accused, the Gujarat police arrested as many as 25,204 people.
6) Gujarat police saved thousands of Muslims during the Riots.
The Gujarat police saved as many as 2,500 Muslims in Sanjeli, a town in North Gujarat, 5,000 Muslims in Bodeli, in Vadodara and about 10,000 Muslims in Viramgam. A total of about 24,000 Muslims were saved in the first three days alone.
7) Government has provided post-riot relief by setting up camps for months after the riots.
Gujarat government had set-up about 100 relief camps and had housed more than a 100,000 people (affected in the riots) for many months after the riots and helped them build homes at places as per their wish/will.
Attempts to subvert the truth by UPA
Strategy of Congress party/ UPA (political opponents of BJP) and Leftist-Liberal intellectuals (Ideological opponents of Hindutva) has always been to demonize/discredit the state of Gujarat and its administrators.
Attempts were made by false propagandists/self-styled activists (with blessing of Congress led UPA government) to prove that the fire in the S6 coach could be due to some accident inside the coach and not by any outside intervention.
On 17 May 2004, two and half years after the incident, Lalu Prasad Yadav, became railway minister.
In September 2004, Lalu Yadav appointed former Supreme Court Justice Umesh Chandra Banerjee to investigate the Godhra train burning case. In January 2005, two days before election in Lalu Prasad's native Bihar state, Banerjee concluded that the fire was accidental. The findings of Justice Banerjee were challenged by one Mr. Neelkanth Tulsidas Bhatia, who was injured in the Godhra Carnage. In October 2006, the Gujarat High Court quashed the conclusions of Banerjee and ruled that the investigation was "unconstitutional, illegal and null and void", and declared its formation as a "colorable exercise of power with mala fide intentions", and its argument of accidental fire "opposed to the prima facie accepted facts on record.".
The ruling of Gujarat High Court quashing UC Banerjee report has taken away the sheen out of the false propaganda undertaken by self-styled activists in collusion with main stream media (TV and Print). Also, it exposed the malafide intentions/efforts of the Congress led UPA government to subvert the truth/justice.
Such is the falsified contents of the US Banerjee report that Gujarat High court has rejected the UPA plea to be tabled in parliament. On the contrary, Supreme Court has refused to oblige a similar request from the false propagandists/ self-styled activists to stay Nanavati-Mehta commission report from being tabled in Gujarat Assembly.
http://www.hindustantimes.com/News-Feed/India/SC-refuses-to-stay-circulation-of-report/Article1-340585.aspx
The Nanavati - Mehta Commission has categorically come to conclusion that it was a pre-planned conspiracy where a huge mob of people had made arrangements an evening in advance to that effect, buying jerry cans and filling them with inflammable material etc. The special fast track court accepted the findings of the commission and 11 men were given death sentences and 20-to-life imprisonments, holding it to be a pre-planned conspiracy. The said findings have also been accepted by Supreme court monitored SIT.
Congress cadres across the state of Gujarat actively participated in the riots
Were they also following the 'orders' of NaMo?
Why does not Media talk about this? Will they hold Sonia Gandhi accountable for this?
Cong silent on cadres linked to Guj riots

VHP angry with NaMo for not being Pro-Hindu
As the conduct of NaMo was not in favor of Hindus, VHP president Mr. Pravin Togadia said: "The VHP is committed to Hinduism and so we have distanced ourselves from the BJP."

Real face of the False propagandists/Self-styled NGOs
Teesta Setalvad (one of the Propped up NGO by Congress party and Left Liberal ideologues to fight their proxy war against NaMo) has been accused of inducing witnesses to lie. Also, she had been accused of eating the money donated/contributed for riot victims.
Teesta Setalvad inducing witnesses to lie
Teesta Setalvad bank accounts getting money
Teesta setalvad unmasked
Teesta setalvad minting money in riot victims name
In an interview to IBN7, the 'face of riots' Qutubbuddin Ansari requests the journalists to not use his photo to defame Gujarat. At 2:20 mins in the video, one will notice that the interviewer is either misleading or ignorant. She says that February month of year 2002 had 29th day (to prove that Army came in 3 days after riots broke). Who will tell these dumb/misleading journalists that, after 28 Feb 2002, the next day is 01 March 2002 (not three days later).
This stereotyping by not mentioning dates but only non-existent 3 day 'delay' in Army getting deployed is to support the false theory that NaMo gave free hand to rioters for three days before calling in Army.
Qutubbuddin Ansari interview in IBN 7/ watch 2:20 mins in particular when the interviewer prompts the next date as 'unthees thareek'
Lies/ falsehood is passed on as 'news' even today by media houses.
Request for Army was made within hours after the riots broke and they were deployed in less than 24 hours .
Opposition party members (Kamal Nath, Balram Jakhad, Ahmed Patel, Mohsina Kidwai, Eduardo Faleiro, Priyaranjandas Munshi etc were part of the delegation) toured the riot-affected areas under heavy police / army watch on 03 March 2002. The same day, they met Governor and also talked to Press. Again, on 08 March 2002 an all-party delegation made visited to riot affected areas in Gujarat.
Much contrary to the accusations by Omar Abudullah (in the context of not allowing Arun Jaitely aftermath the riots in Kishtwar in Jammu) that opposition members were not allowed to visit Gujarat in 2002.
Omar abdullah takes on narendra modi
kishtwar row omar abdullah factually incorrect on narendra modi's role in 2002 says bjp
Can anyone introspect, how many of the 'respected' media houses did not counter this falsehood/lies of Omar Abdullah? What was the reason for their 'silence'? Is it because, they are all in same boat?
If, such a blunder/lie is ever spoken by NaMo, will these blood hounds spare him a similar favor?
Mr. Sanjiv Bhatt, a rogue policeman and later proved to be a Congress party agent.
As per Mr. Sanjiv Bhatt, in the meeting on 27 Feb 2002 evening, Narendra Modi has given informal instructions to Police that Hindus should be allowed to vent anger and Muslims should be taught a lesson, so that Godhra like incidents should not re-occur. Interestingly, this 'revelation' has come from Mr. Sanjiv Bhatt after 9 silent years.
Sanjiv Bhatt through his affidavit tried to corroborate statement of RB Sreekumar (who in 2002 held the post of Additional DGP, Intelligence), who had stated in an affidavit before the Nanavati-Shah Commission that the then director general of police (DGP), Gujarat, K. Chakravarti, had told him about the crucial meeting held by Chief Minister Modi at his residence at 11:00 PM on 27 February 2002. He alleged that the Chief Minister had said at the meeting that - "in communal riots, police takes action against Hindus and Muslims on one-to-one basis. This will not do now, allow Hindus to give vent to their anger" (paragraph 84 of fourth affidavit filed by RB Sreekumar, before the Nanavati-Shah Commission dated October 27, 2005/ this is more than 3 years after the Nanavati commission was constituted and about an a year after Gujarat government denied him promotion ). Interestingly, Mr. Sanjiv Bhatt has not supported the charges made by Mr. RB Sreekumar in 2005, which he tried to corroborate in April 2011.
Mr. Sanjiv Bhatt had troublesome career all through out which include charges like - recruitment scam under his charge as SP Banaskanta, abduction, killings and planting narcotics with a view to blackmail etc (all of these charges pre 2002). It may be noted that, Gujarat Vigilance Commission recommended twice on 15-07-2002 and 19-10-2006 that Sanjiv Bhatt should be placed under suspension for his professional misconducts, but Bhatt managed to get stay orders from the court each time.
An excerpt from the Supreme Court monitored SIT closure report on Godhra, Gujarat Riots
" .. it appears that certain vested including Sanjiv Bhatt, different NGOs and some political leaders were trying to use Hon'ble Supreme Court/ SIT as forum to settling their scores. This would also go to show that Sanjiv Bhatt had been colluding with the persons with vested interests to see that some kind of charge-sheet is filed against Sri. Narendra Modi and other."
" ..it can be inferred that Sanjiv Bhatt is facing a lot of problems in service matters and has got an axe to grind against the Govt. of Gujarat and, therefore, his evidence is ill motivated and cannot be relied upon."
Sanjiv Bhatt was able to secure a Congress Party ticket from Maninagar constituency, for his wife to contest against NaMo in Dec 2012, Gujarat State assembly elections.

Kejriwal gets 'information' on NaMo from Sanjiv Bhatt (shows desperation of this rougue officer to get under the nerve of NaMo, by hook are crook). If one reads through the information 'collected' by Sanjiv Bhatt to some how discredit/defame NaMo, they will realise to the contrary how conscious NaMo administration was in ensuring the interests of Gujarat state. Probably, Kejriwals 'expose' serials have lost the sheen after he tried to somehow blame NaMo of corruption when there is in contrary evidence to prove the good intent of NaMo.
Kejriwal got information on modi from Sanjiv Bhatt

About Us
Today, frustration among citizens in India has reached unprecedented levels.
The ill-effects of mal-governance, mis-administration and rampant corruption has percolated into every aspect of a citizens life. The rising prices/infaltion, lack of jobs/opportunities, brazen corruption/nepotism and in-difference o the plight of common man even at the face of natural calamities/ terror attacks has largely gone un-checked. Media, which is supposedly the FOURTH pillar of democracy (Executive, Judiciary and Elected bodies, being the other three) has been colluding with the political class (especially, those with leanings for Left-liberal ideology) and has been doing great disservice to their profession and the nation
We have helplessly sat before our TV screens for years, hoping Mainstream Media will someday reflect the sentiments/anguish of common man. However, we the people of India were betrayed by the conduct of these mainstream media (MSM) houses, who have been abusing their viewers by showing naked bias in favour of Congress led UPA/ their political bosses. The same lot of MSM agencies/houses have been putting ‘relentless efforts’ for over a decade now(using unethical/immoral means and false propaganda) to tarnish/ witch-hunt NaMo, at every available opportunity. The venom-spewing campaign of these Media houses has reached unbearable levels. Today, audience/viewers were able to see through the nefarious intentions behind this media obsession to crucify NaMo. The overwhelming support to NaMo across length and breadth of India, proves his growing stature.
Despite so much negative propaganda and witch-hunt by the hate spreading/ venom-spewing media libtards, NaMo stayed positive and worked hard for bringing development to Gujarat.
Today NaMo stands out as an exceptionally tough character and embodiment of positive force, especially because he delivered, despite facing unimaginable negativity/venom/false propaganda(which, if any ordinary individual is subjected for even few days could turn insane) for over a decade. It is this trait of NaMo, which has inspired us to support him for the sake of truth.
Independent, ordinary citizens like us, with no prior political affiliations have voluntarily stepped forward to support NaMo, without any expectations for our efforts.
We felt, if we do not support NaMo now, it will tantamount to killing the truth.
“All those who witness injustice/sin, but do NOT oppose the same, due to any reason (be it – they being part of injustice/sin, they being indifferent or they fear the perpetrators of injustice/sin etc.) will have to share the punishment/karma of the committed injustice/sin” ~ Lord Shri Krishna, in Mahabharata, in the context of punishment meted to Kuru greats like Bheeshma, Dronacharya etc., for not objecting to the evil deeds of Kuru prince, Dhuryodhana.
